Sharmila Tagore Shines Brightly in Gulmohar
The heartbreaking tale of the Batra family, who are preparing to leave their 34-year-old home, Gulmohar, is told in Gulmohar. The main character in the story, Kusum Batra (Sharmila Tagore), wants to spend Holi at Gulmohar one last time. This sets off a series of events, insights, and realizations. Amol Palekar portrays Sharmila Tagore’s brother-in-law, and Manoj Bajpaye plays Sharmila Tagore.
The tale is skillfully developed by director Rahil V. Chittela using subplots about three generations of a family and the true importance of home and family. Moreover, Gulmohar describes the evolution of social structure and thought, as well as the value of harmony and acceptance. Sharmila Tagore was the actress Chittela had in mind for the character of Kusum Batra, the matriarch, who is a graceful woman who embraces social change with her grace and loyalty to her heritage. Everyone in the cast did a fantastic job in their parts, which helped the audience have a wonderful time watching the movie.
