S M Sehgal Foundation Wins National Water Award for Water Solutions

S M Sehgal Foundation Wins National Water Award for Water SolutionsDr. Surinder Mohan Sehgal and Edda Sehgal founded the S M Sehgal Foundation (SMSF), which received the 5th annual National Water Award 2024 from India’s Ministry of Jal Shakti. The Best Civil Society category honored SMSF for its impactful efforts in tackling rural water scarcity through initiatives like rainwater harvesting, groundwater recharge, and WASH programs that promote sustainable water practices. President Droupadi Murmu and Cabinet Minister C R Patil attended the award ceremony at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.

Celebrating its 25th year, SMSF operates in 13 Indian states, reaching over 12,700 villages and benefiting 5.27 million people. Founded in 1999, SMSF works to secure water, improve agriculture, and support education in rural areas. SMSF also received the Fortune Leadership Award as the Most Trusted NGO. CEO Anjali Makhija dedicated the awards to SMSFs partners and beneficiaries, affirming their commitment to sustainable development across India.
