Hrithik Roshan’s War Breaks all Box Office Records in India
Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff starrer War released on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, October 2. And, on the day of its release the film had broken not one, not five, but eight Box Office records in India.
Yes, the action-thriller produced by Yash Raj Films, had managed to shatter multiple Box Office records in the country, thanks to a collection of Rs 51.6 crore (approx. 7285511.33 USD) on its opening day. War became the biggest opener in the history of Indian cinema, it registered all-time biggest holiday opening and the biggest opening for a film releasing on Gandhi Jayanti. It was also a record-shattering opening for its lead actors – Hrithik and Tiger – at the Box Office; and a record for the film’s director, Siddharth Anand and War’s producers, YRF. And, it was the biggest opening Box Office collection for a film that is not a spin-off or a sequel.
The film is continuing strong on a record-breaking spree at the Box Office, as it is minting gold at the domestic and overseas box office. Here are some more Box Office records that War broke since its release. War was pitted against Chiranjeevi’s Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy and Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker. Hrithik’s action film got the biggest opening for a Box Office clash. It recorded the highest-grossing first weekend collections. War was the fastest film of 2019 to reach Rs. 100 crore collection, within three days of its release.
War is also the fastest film of the year to cross Rs. 200 crore in collections. It has also become the highest-grossing film of 2019, surpassing the lifetime collection of Uri: The Surgical Strike. And finally, War is the highest overseas grosser Bollywood film of the year. The film hit $11 million mark in its second weekend, surpassing the collections of Salman Khan starrer Bharat, which did a business of $10.71 million overseas.
