Editorial August 2017
Dear Readers,
Like many of you this summer, Aruna and I have had a wonderful time catching up with friends and vacationing with family. We’re feeling refreshed and ready for the fall – one of our favorite season’s, namely because of upcoming Indian festivals!
For many, the IIFA Awards are nearly as exciting as celebrating our cultural and religious holidays! This July, the IIFA Awards returned to the United States and was held in New York. Staff writers take a look at the many impressive Indian designers who outfit the stars, and I must say, there are so many creative designers emerging in the fashion world.
Guest contributor Nisha Jani takes a closer look at the growing trend of health and wellness. More than a trend, people are beginning to pay closer attention to their health and often make wellness a part of their vacations.
This month, we also highlight our younger generation. High school student Ishani Mehta shares her thoughts on the stereotypes she faces as an Indian American in today’s world. Her insight is sure to impress! Sanjana Chandran is another impressive young star from South Florida. We had the pleasure of attending her violin arangetram, and the evening truly was magical. I imagine we’ll be seeing more of both these young talents in the future!
It’s already time – we’ll be hosting the MyShadi Bridal Expo in Atlanta on Sunday, August 13 at the Renaissance Atlanta Waverly Hotel, so be sure to register to attend online at www.myshadibridalexpo.com. As usual, admission and parking are free to the shows, and the best part? Getting to meet with a wide range of event planning vendors all in the same place. Imagine all the planning you can finalize in one afternoon, leaving more time to enjoy being a couple! The next chance to get a jump on wedding planning will be in Orlando on Sunday, September 10 at the Hilton Orlando. We can’t wait to meet excited couples!
Happy Reading!
