Directed by Abhishek Chaubey Udta Punjab released mid June amidst controversies, debates and even news of leaked online prints. Overcoming all, the film managed to make an impact on audiences. The film collected about 105 million on opening day and with a growth of 11.94% on the second day, its total collections reached 213 million. The movie ranks fifth in the club of movies earning maximum opening day collections.

Junooniyat, which stars Yami Gautam and Pulkit Samrat, was set to release on June 17, 2016, but was rescheduled to release on June 24, 2016. The Vivek Agnihotri directorial distribution rights were sold to Pooja Films who is responsible for all shuffling of release dates. Their distributor T-Series have decided to respect the decision.

Despite flaws, the film ‘Udta Punjab’ has a strong message to pass and it does so with great flair and conviction! The director Abhishek Chaubey weaves his powerful sinewy story with its own class of madcap beast, profanity, preening etc. to make you aware in no uncertain the harsh and crude reality of the nexus between the politicians and the Drug kingpins that have left the state of Punjab almost debilitated.
