Veteran film director Lekh Tandon passes away

Director of many popular old movies like Shammi Kapoor’s Professor (1962) and family drama Dulhan Wahi Jo Piya Man Bhaye (1977) passed away at the age of 88 on Sunday. He took his last breath at his Powai residence in suburban Mumbai. He contributed equally to television and even gave SRK his first break in his television series, Dil Dariya (1988). In his later years, Tandon also acted in Swadesh (2004) and later in Chennai Express (2013). Many people from the film fraternity remembered his contributions and paid him homage.

Anupam Kher assumes role of FTII chairperson

Anupam Kher was appointed chairperson of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) on October 11, 2017. Walking inside the institute a couple of days later unannounced, he stated that he is very happy with a position at an institute where he was a student himself 40 years ago. He stated his reason for unannounced walk-in is that he wanted to feel like a student and interact with present students in a casual manner. He plans to begin his role on an optimistic note.

Kangana Ranaut and her sister charged with defaming Aditya Pancholi

Actor Aditya Pancholi has filed a defamation case against actor Kangana Ranaut and her sister Rangoli in the Andheri metropolitan magistrate’s court. He accused Kangana and her sister of making defamatory remarks against him on two news channels and on Twitter. He calls for the initiation of criminal proceedings against both the sisters under sections 499 (defamation) and 500 (punishment for defamation) of the Indian Penal Code.

Lulia Vantur’s absence from Arpita’s Diwali bash
