Indian-Origin CEOs Among Top 10 Highest-Paid Worldwide
Two Indian-origin CEOs are among the top 10 highest-paid leaders of S&P 500 companies. Nikesh Arora, CEO of Palo Alto Networks, ranks in this elite group with a total annual compensation of $151.4 million. Microsoft’s CEO, Satya Nadella, is also on the list, earning $48.5 million. Other notable Indian-origin CEOs, such as Ravi Kumar of Cognizant and Shantanu Narayen of Adobe, are renowned for their substantial earnings. Over the past decade, average executive pay in S&P 500 companies has risen significantly, with CEO compensation now averaging $17.7 million in 2023, compared to the median U.S. worker’s pay increase of $18,240 over the same period, now at $65,470. Leading the highest-paid CEO list in 2023 is Hock Tan of Broadcom at $161.8 million, followed by Stephen Schwarzman of Blackstone with $119.7 million, and Apple’s Tim Cook at $63.2 million.
