How to stay light in a chaotic world?
By Kanishtha Agarwal
We all want to feel light as “lightness is the original nature of the soul.” But why are we not able to experience our original nature of lightness? First, we have forgotten our original nature and secondly, we are constantly bombarded by negative information, making it very easy to become absorbed in an increasingly corrupt world. So, what can we do to restore and experience our true nature of lightness that can make us happy and healthy? It is important to take certain actions so that we can keep ourselves free from heaviness of any kind.
Let’s focus on the word, “LIGHT” as an acronym for a secret formula to experience constant lightness in our lives.
“L” is for “letting go”. Some people are not able to experience lightness because of holding on to bad memories. Dwelling on negative memories keeps us from enjoying our true nature of lightness. Sometimes, it can feel as if we are carrying multiple suitcases on our heads. So, have the aim to forgive and forget and move forward with lightness.
“I” stands for introversion; that is, we need to look inwards rather than looking outside and comparing ourselves with others. We need to focus on our own specialties and gifts. Looking at others, thinking about others and talking about others make me feel heavy. On the other hand, if we look at our beautiful selves and appreciate the inner treasures, it is easy to experience lightness. We need to connect with our inner light of truth to feel that true lightness.
“G” signifies “Giving.” The true nature of the soul is to give. it is said, “Giving is Receiving.” If we live our lives with the intention of serving others and giving them true peace, love and happiness, universal forces will always return the same energy back to us as per the Law of Karma. True giving is always directly proportional to earning blessings. The more blessings we accumulate, the lighter we become.
“H” represents “Harmony.” One of the main causes of unhealthy and sour relationships is disharmony, which robs people of their happiness. If everyone makes a bit of an adjustment and is not rigid about having his/her way, it is easy to access lightness in relationships. Just like in any orchestra, when all the players tune their instruments to the same frequency, the music sounds synchronous. In the same way, if every being on this planet lives in harmony, the world will become a better place.
Finally, “T” reminds us of “Time”. As the adage goes, “Time and tide wait for no one”. If we do everything in life in a timely manner, it is easy to stay light. We should say goodbye to procrastination and laziness as these are disruptors of lightness and peace in our lives.
