Exclusive one-on-one conversation with Vivek Ramaswamy, US presidential candidate

Raj Shah, Managing editor of Desh-Videsh Media Group, sat down with Vivek Ramaswamy for a one-on-one interview focusing on issues like Foreign Policy, Immigration, the US-India relationship, and Religious discrimination.

Raj Shah: How will President Vivek Ramaswamy’s Foreign policy be different from President Joe Biden’s foreign policy?
Vivek Ramaswamy: The backbone of my foreign policy platform as President will be declaring independence from America’s most dangerous enemy: Communist China. President Biden weakens America by making our great nation dependent on China for the shoes on our feet and the phones in our pockets. If that Chinese Spy balloon had come from another country, it would have been shot down immediately. Vivek Ramaswamy will end Joe Biden’s co-dependent relationship with China. Part of this decoupling will include transferring our manufacturing base to not only the United States but countries like India, Vietnam, and other countries in Southeast Asia and South America.

Raj Shah: Most Indian-Americans, like your parents, came legally to this country. What do you think about President Joe Biden’s Immigration Policy?
Vivek Ramaswamy: My parents came to America the right way, legally. He supports legal immigration and wants America to return to a meritocracy, where we bring people to our great nation who love our country and want to be here. As a successful business owner who built successful multi-billion-dollar businesses, Vivek knows the importance of data and the notion that “if you can’t measure it, you can’t manage it.” That is why, as President, Vivek will take a much-needed pause on immigration to engage in a deep dive into how many illegals cross our border, who is coming here, what the Border Patrol needs to keep us safe, and how we can use the military to secure the border. Once that is measured, Vivek will implement his comprehensive plan to secure the southern and northern borders to keep Americans safe.

Raj Shah: How would you end Religious Discrimination?
Vivek Ramaswamy: One of my core messages in this campaign is restoring the founding principles of the United States. The First Amendment, which includes freedom of religion, is one of the things this country must preserve moving forward. Religious faith is extremely personal to me, and I believe that this is one of the ideals that is slowly eroding us as Americans.

Raj Shah: The Political views of the Republican Party mostly align with Indian-American views. Then why are most Indian-Americans Democrats? How will you convince them to change their views and vote for you?
Vivek Ramaswamy: I believe my message of restoring the ideals of faith, family, and merit will have a big impact on Indian Americans and all Americans that value these ideals. I am not running to lead a political party; I am running to lead a nation. This approach, I believe, is what will lead to a landslide victory in the general election in 2024.

Raj Shah: As a practicing Hindu, How do you convince non-Hindus to vote for you?Vivek Ramaswamy: If you are a person of faith, whether you are a Christian, Hindu, or of any other faith, you believe in the truth that God is real. Hindus and Christians both believe in the existence of a singular power greater than ourselves. This is why “God is real” is one of my 10 truths that I lead the campaign with. I was raised with God in the house and in a two-parent household, which I believe is the ultimate privilege I was afforded growing up.

Raj Shah: What specific steps will you take to strengthen the India-US relationship?
Vivek Ramaswamy: Being the world’s two largest democracies, India and the United States must work together to forge a strong and enduring partnership. Both countries have a shared threat in China and must work together to suppress the threat China poses both militarily and ideologically.
