January 2014
Dear Readers,
Happy New Year! This time of year is wonderful because it gives us the chance to make a fresh start and truly reflect on everything we do, whether is our work, schooling, or family life.
While many of our readers may be making resolutions to become more fit or broaden their horizons, we too at Desh-Videsh Media Group are reflecting on ways to serve our community better. One of our resolutions is to provide our magazine and online readers with the best quality content. With all endeavors from the magazine to the MyShadi Bridal Expos, we pledge to exceed your expectations.
To start the New Year right, it is our pleasure to present readers with articles about two topics Indians love most – Bollywood and cricket. This month, we reflect on the life and work of Manna Dey, one of Bollywood’s most beloved playback singers. For all the cricket fans out there, this month you have a chance to learn more about Sachin Tendulkar, one of the most accomplished cricket players of our time.
Here at Desh-Videsh, we never miss an opportunity to connect with our younger readers. Suhani Patel, a senior at the University of Georgia, shares her internship experience in India with us, and we hope her words provide inspiration for anyone considering this type of trip. This year, we really want to encourage the younger generation to share their thoughts and experiences with us. If you or someone you know is interested, please send an email to info@deshvidesh.com.
We’re also thrilled to announce our next three MyShadi Bridal Expos: Tampa on March 9 at the Tampa Marriott Waterside Hotel & Marina, Atlanta on March 30 at the Renaissance Atlanta Waverly Hotel, and South Florida on May 4 at the Bonaventure Resort & Spa. As always, admission to the show and parking are free, so stop by to meet great event planning vendors, do some clothing and jewelry shopping, eat delicious food samples, and watch great fashion shows!
As always, happy reading!
