A group of 239 international scientists have urged authorities, including the World Health Organization (WHO), to recognize that the coronavirus can be transmitted by area and urged that the health directives be reviewed.

“Hand washing and social distancing are appropriate, but according to our point of view, they are insufficient to provide protection against micro-drops loaded with viruses that are released into the environment by infected people,” wrote the experts in the study led by Lidia Morawska from Queensland University of Technology.
Among the main recommendations of the academics is to establish greater ventilation for closed spaces, the installation of more efficient air filters and ultraviolet lamps, and to avoid a large amount of crowd in buildings and public transport.
