Editorial
Dear Readers,
Friends, if there’s one thing we should pay attention to, it’s our health. I know, we are all aware of the need to eat healthy and exercise, but putting it into practice is quite another thing! Schedules are packed, and spare time is scarce, but we must do what we can!
In this issue, staff writer Faren Rajkumar explores the health benefit of a plant-based vegetarian diet. While many of us follow a vegetarian diet due to religious reasons, the benefits of a plant-based diet are actually abundant. Also in this issue are articles on bhuta shuddhi (elemental purification) and a column with a list of must-read books on health and wellness.
Interested in becoming a Desh-Videsh contributor? We have two new monthly columns, and we ask our readers to submit their articles and suggestions! The first column is “Must Read Books” in which we will highlight three to four books by South Asian authors or about Indian Subcontinent culture. The second column is “Indian Subcontinent History, Religion, and Culture,” which will cover our community’s rich history, religion and culture. For more information or to submit your book suggestions, please email editor@deshvidesh.com
Don’t forget to come visit us at the MyShadi Bridal Expos this month! We’ll be in Fort Lauderdale on Sunday, April 30, at the Bonaventure Resort & Spa. On Sunday, May 7, we’ll be in Tampa at the Tampa Convention Center. As always, attendees will be able to meet with wedding and event vendors all in one afternoon.
